WHY SCHOOLS SHOULD TEACH SIGN LANGUAGE.

Hello everyone! My name is Adriana. Imagine that you’re in a classroom and there’s a student who can’t hear what the teacher is saying. This would be really hard for them. Many people in the world that have no speech, sight or hearing go through this daily. This is why I would like to talk about why schools should teach sign language. Schools should teach sign language so children can learn to help communicate with the deaf community. Learning sign language at school can help children learn a new language and it will also help the Deaf culture feel included.

Now let’s talk about the history behind sign language. It all started in the 17th century and later in 1814 it developed into a language by a man named Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet. He wanted to help non-verbal communities to feel included with daily things. This helped create schools for deaf children all over the world. It also helped non-verbal children communicate with the verbal world.

Sign language is like another language that you can use with your hands to talk to people who can’t hear or speak. Learning sign language in schools would help us know more languages and the Deaf culture. It will help us include others that are not heard and help us be aware of different communities we don’t usually see or pay attention to. This will help us appreciate others that sign.
Learning sign language would be important because it can include children that cannot hear or speak in normal schools and help them feel more comfortable. By learning sign language, we can help the student who can’t hear or speak in class understand what is going on.

Fun facts: Did you know that blind people also use sign language. Another fact is there are many different sign languages depending on the country or area, like California is different than Florida.

In conclusion, bringing sign language into schools would be valuable and important. This will help the sign language community to understand us and for us to understand them because there are so many people in this world that do not have sight, hearing or speech. Sign language Communication is a beautiful thing to spread love and learn from. That’s why learning sign language in school can be helpful. Thank you for listening!
