Medieval Reminder
Medieval cathedrals inspire faith. Because they were built to the glory of God, they are the most grandiose structures ever built in Europe. Using millions of pounds of carved stone, workers toiled hundreds of years to build these massive structures. In the Greek language, cathedral means seat or throne because the Bishop's throne and headquarters resided there. Paintings, art murals, stained glass windows and tapestries, which filled the captivating cathedrals, depicted Bible scenes so that peasants who could not read could remember them. These cherished cathedrals advanced art and architecture. They awed visitors. Undeniably, medieval cathedrals reminded people of God's glory, power, and authority.
