In honor of Black History Month last month, I will tell you 6 fast facts about Araminta Ross AKA Harriet Tubman.
1) Araminta Ross (Harriet Tubman) changed her name to Harriet in honor of her mother. Soon Harriet Ross married a free black man and changed her last name to Tubman. Now she is known all across North America as Harriet Tubman!!
2) Harriet is most known for escaping slavery and using a network called The Underground Railroad.
3)Tubman was a union spy in the Civil War.
4) Mrs. Tubman was born into slavery in Dorchester County, Maryland
5) Harriet escaped slavey at the young age of 27
6) Tubman's nickname when she was enslaved was "Minty Ross"
