Pita is a very important and popular food in Serbian culture. For the people who don’t know how to make the pita, I will be telling you the four easy steps to make it. First, you have to make the dough which is 600g of flour, two tbsp of salt, some warm water and mix it in a normal mixture you would use for any dough(https://www.sbs.com.au). While the dough is mixing, you have to make the filling which has many different fillings, but I will be telling you the cheese one and the potato one(https://www.bitemykitchen.co). First the cheese, you have to put three packs of cottage cheese, but don’t worry it won’t taste like actual cottage cheese when you bake it. Then you have to put crumbled feta cheese, 2 eggs, and of course some salt. For the potato filling which is much easier, you have to shred about 4 potatoes, add salt, pepper, onions, and vegeta, which you could get at a Serbian store like Marcos Meats and Deli but it’s just optional and then put it to boil(https://www.cookingorgeuoskitchen.com). When the dough is done mixing, you want to split it into circles depending on how many batches you want(https://www.thekitchn.com). When the ovals are done sitting for a bit, you stretch them out and put the filling of your choice and spread it out a little (when you spread it out a bit make sure you split it into fourths or halves). Once you spread it out, you have to cut it into the halves or fourths that you split it into. When you have done that, you want to take one of the halves or fourths and then fold half of it and roll in with the table cloth that you put it on. You have to brush the baking pan that you put it in and put it to bake for about 30 mins at about 375 degrees (https://www.laviepartage.com).If you want to dip it into something it's best to dip it in sour cream or a salty and liquidy yogurt like or kefir, but if you are lactose intolerant or just don’t want to dip it into something it is also very good plain. To keep you waiting so if you don’t have anything to do while the pita is baking, a fun fact is that the original balkan recipe of pita was from Bosnia-herzegovina and Croatia and usually made by the balkans grandma’s or mom’s .Once it’s done cooking make sure to eat and enjoy the amazing, delicious, scrumptious, crunchy, soft, famous, Serbian pita.
