My Soccer Journey

Hi, this is Gabe! My journey for soccer started in 2020 when my parents introduced me to soccer through an instructional camp. While learning the basics I began to really enjoy playing the game of soccer. My first coach noticed I picked up on the skills quickly and noticed my speed on the field. As the instructional camp came to a close, my coach suggested to my parents to enroll me into recreational soccer as he felt I had some talent. After the instructional camp, I saw Cristiano Ronaldo on TV with my dad. Watching Ronaldo on TV I was fascinated with his footwork and goal scoring. I wanted to play like Cristiano, so I began to practice on the street. I was practicing my footwork and cardio. My cardio increased due to my participation in St. Anthony Catholic School's cross-country team. By December 2021, while playing recreational soccer, I was noticed by Hernando Heat competitive team and asked to try out. While making the team my parents felt it was not a good fit for me at the time, so I stayed in recreational soccer. By 2022, I was noticed by Florida Premier in Brooksville, and was asked to attend their summer camp where I was asked to try out for their competitive soccer team. Through the encouragement of my coaches and trainers, I was able to increase my skill level and understanding of position as well as game playing scenarios. We finished this season as U-13 USA league champions and won the Central Florida Invitational Soccer Tournament. The success of this year has promoted our team to the FCL league with stiffer competition. My soccer journey has only begun. With hard work and determination I believe there is nothing I can't accomplish.
