To start, Training is an important thing to do before the day of the track meet. There should be scheduled practices for your track team to meet up and train. These practices should consist of running the distances that you will on the track and speedwork. Speedwork is a process that makes you faster, it can hurt your legs, but it’s worth it. Moving along the track, you’ll want to stretch before you start running. Stretching gets the blood pumping in your legs and helps you get started.
Now you’re on the track, you’ll start with the fifty and a hundred-yard dash. These are very short distances, so run your fastest and DON’T LOOK BACK, just assume they’re going to pass you, this will make you run faster. Next, the two hundo, this is halfway around the Track, you’ll want to run seventy percent of your speed and pickup close to the end. Finally, the four hundred. You’ll want to run 50 percent of your speed and close to the end pickup the pace and pick people off.
