Likable Lychee

I sit on my blanket
In the freshly found forest
With a basket of my favorite
Red ripe round fruit
Their outside layer of a
Spiney spikey shell that protects the insides
Red beaming seed that regrows everyday
When I bite into it
The sweet savory syrupy egg shapes under skin
I feel my mouth melt
Form the addicting aroma that I savor
Until I swallow and can’t let go
Of the taste just yet

I pick off more lychee
Off the tall tree branch it hangs on
Just to get the same heaven I endured just moments ago
I see as they have dried up
And still laid them on my tongue
The taste was magnificent
The aroma was even stronger!

I couldn’t take my eyes off them
And continued to eat them branch after branch
And once I was done
My jaw hurt
And soon I fell asleep soundly
Only to wake up in the trees just no one paid any mind to me
