National Jewish Heritage Month

The month of May was chosen due to the highly successful celebration of the 350th Anniversary of American Jewish History in May 2004, which was organized by the Commission for Commemorating 350 Years of American Jewish History. During the month of May regular things Jewish people do is visit a Jewish Museum or a site of historical Jewish interest like the Holocaust Museum. They also read from a book called the Torhan. President Bush proclaimed May as Jewish American Heritage Month. This was a result of a concerted effort by American Jewish leaders to introduce resolutions in both the U.S. Senate and the House. Jewish people continue to celebrate to keep the Jewish heritage month alive.
