Mario’s first video game was Donkey Kong, which was actually supposed to be a Popeye game, but Nintendo couldn’t get the rights. Mario’s original name was Jump Man. Jump Man had to doge barrels from his rogue pet gorilla. He next appeared in Super Mario Brothers for the NES where Bowser also made his first appearance. This game actually allows video games to be created now. When the Atari was still selling there were terrible games like E.T and other games that made people think that video games were terrible, but when Super Mario came out people realized games can be good.
Mario’s first 3D game was Super Mario 64 and also started the craze for 3D gaming. It was revolutionary and is an amazing game to this day. Mario now has tons of spinoff games including Mario Golf, Mario Kart, Mario Baseball, Mario Strikers, Mario Tennis, Yoshi’s Island, Super Smash Brothers, and many many more. Mario is one of the most popular video game characters and might be even more recognizable than Mickey Mouse.
