Juneteenth is not a widely known day, but it is important. It is the day to celebrate the emancipation of slaves in the 19th century. It was first celebrated in Texas in 1865. It is considered the “longest running African American holiday.” It has also been called America’s second Independence Day. That is why Juneteenth is such an important day.
