Red Panda

The red panda is a very interesting animal. Most people just acknowledge that endangered animals are just endangered and don’t look into that animal to see why it’s so special. That’s why I’m here to show why the red panda is a very special animal and should not go extinct.

The red pandas habitat is Eastern Himalayas including China, Nepal, Bhutan. They spend most of their time in high mountains in the trees. The climate zone that they live is tropical, temperate and montane forest which includes coniferous forests, temperate broadleaf and mixed forests. The red panda favors steep slopes with a dense bamboo cover close to water.

The red panda mainly eats bamboo and leaves, but it will occasionally snack on fruit, insects, bird eggs and small lizards. The red pandas are omnivores because they consume plants and meat.

The red panda is slightly larger than a domestic cat. The red panda has a bear-like appearance and a thick russet of fur. The belly and limbs are black. The red panda also has white markings on side of their head and above its small eyes.

The red panda sadly has less than 10,000 individuals left. The red pandas has been caught in by bear and wild pig traps. Their forests have also been cut down making them not able to live in their habitat and causing them to die. The red panda also has a small reproduction rate. Their mothers only have about 1-5 babies every 4 months.

Wah" is another name for the Red panda because of its distinctive cry.
The red panda eats about 20,000 bamboo leaves every day.
Did you know that the red pandas scientific name is Ailurus fulgens?
Red pandas lick themselves clean, just like cats do.

Now I know that I found a lot of these facts about the red panda interesting and hopefully you found the red panda to be very interesting too!
