8:29! QUIET ON SET! Roll it! Did you know it takes more than 18 people just to have one TNN broadcast? If you didn’t already know, TNN stands for Tatum News Network, and it goes on every teacher’s screen at 8:30 almost every morning. There are a lot of jobs to do and only two adults who are there every morning. Ms. Young and Mrs. Denton are the directors, but the people who really run the show are the children. They not only tell the whole school what’s happening, but they also have to make sure that the show is running well. There is a lot of work put into TNN each morning, including switching the screen to show the on-stage folks. Or you can control the sound and make sure that everybody is being heard. Those are some of the backstage jobs and if one thing goes wrong back there, well, it might take a little bit harder to fix. Or maybe you could be question of the day or anchor. The only mistake you can make is messing up your line, but even if you that you will still be okay because you can just say it again. I can go on and on with all of the things that you could be at TNN, but that is not what this is about. This is about what happens behind the screen.

There are a lot of things that happen on TNN. For one, we all trust each other to run the show smoothly, and that makes some good friends. I met a person named Hank at TNN and now we are really good friends. We also know each other better than when we started. TNN is a very cool experience for everybody, so TNN shares the fun with everybody. 1st and 2nd graders come in almost every day and go on camera to say the pledge. It builds bonds with those kids, too. They get a chance to see if they would want to be on TNN when they are older. TNN is so much fun because you get an opportunity to do amazing, new, techy things with new people and build bonds of a lifetime. It’s not just me who feels this way. Here are some more people.

Zoe Batton: “The best part of TNN is that the crews are filled with passionately amazing people. They are all so kind and always find a way to put a smile on my face.”

Giuliana Wallace: “The best part of TNN is being able to watch the whole thing with your friends when it’s time.”

Reid Marien: “The best part of TNN is at the end when you leave you feel happy and satisfied.”
