I’m Amira. There are many things going on in my life, but one in particular. You see, it’s one of the best things that has ever happened to me! Well, that is, until the drop of it... The copy.

So, I am in a great elementary school. Luckily, I still have recess! I am in 5th grade too. So close to middle school! But, that isn’t what this story is about. Anyway, there is this game I created; it’s called Salami Smash. Everyone in my class loves it! The boys play, the girls play, everyone is happy... Right? No, actually! A girl in my class had to make the fun complicated and dramatic.

The girl’s name is Reyanna, Rey for short. I thought we were good friends, until she did something purely evil. She can be so frustrating to me now. This story takes place at recess. Most of my classmates were playing Salami Smash. It was fun as usual! But Rey had to take that away from me.

We were smashing that salami when Reyanna complained, “This game is so boring with Amira controlling it! Wouldn’t you rather someone smart lead it?”

I felt offended but I kept my cool, “Rey, if you don’t want to play, that is perfectly fine. You can play whatever you want.” My emotions were piqued in my head, but I didn’t want something bad to happen, so I kept my chill.

Rey left in indignation. She stomped away to the other side of the field like a mammoth! It was all clear from then on, no Reyanna complaining meant smooth sailing! Or so I thought because a few minutes later Rey slogged back over.

“Who wants to play Salami Smash!” She clamored. Does this mean peace? Her words were so enthusiastic, so it had to mean peace.

“We all do! Join in whenever you’d like Rey!” I howled—hoping I didn’t come on too strong. You see, Reyanna is hard to be friends with, but still everyone wants to befriend her; including me. She’s an interesting girl!

“Uh, no. I mean in a new lobby with someone cool, like me, being the ringleader!” She shouts. Wow, I thought, nobody will ever leave the original game for Salami Smash 2.0!

Everyone suddenly rushed over to Reyanna. NOBODY stayed at the original Salami Smash; except for me. All my mates went to REYANNA. What a prissy girl! She thinks she can just manipulate my classmates? But she did—and I cannot stop her...

I went over to a bench and moped, Rey was happy. She was happy taking my friends away from me! At least someone was having fun. She didn’t even change Salami Smash at all... Still, more people wanted to play the copy of it with someone popular, than the original with someone like me.

Starting to tear up, I thought about the future of Salami Smash. Picturing Reyanna leading that game gave me chills. What if... whenever I create a game, Rey stole it! My mind kept getting worse when I realized that if I don’t get people to like me soon, I’ll never have any friends or players of my games!

I started to cry. I know I shouldn’t have let that get me down; I couldn’t help it! This whole thing was too complicated for me to deal with alone! I should have hired a co-owner of Salami Smash when I could. Someone who could lead! It’s too late now anyway. My pride and joy was taken away from me. It was stolen. Reyanna took my game players and my dignity.

I was starting to spill; I was starting to pour out. I thought I had no tears left to cry. Looks as if I was incorrect. I was overthinking everything. I was about to have either a panic attack or an anxiety attack, or BOTH! I am so upset just because someone stole my pride.

Was this a big deal, or am I just overthinking it again? Then Rey walked up to me... the crowd behind her. All my players were staring at me. Reyanna kept staring at me too. She looked...friendly? I don’t know but my guess was that she was about to embarrass me, and the crowd was waiting for her to say something really mean.

“May I sit?” Her angelic eyes glittered. They were so glossy, like she cared.

I nodded and she sat right next to me.

“Hey... I- uh. You- S-” she stuttered. She seemed as if she was trying to say something embarrassing. I saw her looking down, an innocent frown on her face.

“Okay, I’m just going to say it in the easiest way possible... Sorry! Salami Smash isn't as fun as I thought it would be without your okay-ish rules. I realized that I was out of my mind to fire you from your own game.” Wow! Rey... APOLOGIZED?! One of the most popular girls apologized... to me?

“Uh...” I was speechless. She just kept looking down.

I guess she wasn’t so bad. “Reyanna, thank you. That was pure kindness. It was heartwarming to me.” That was fully from my heart.

“Thank YOU! You are the best Amira!” She jumped up and hugged me. “I have just the thing to celebrate.” Then she pulled me up and shouted at everyone. “Who wants to play Salami Smash, under Amira’s name!” They all were hyped!

That’s how I got the new co-owner of Salami Smash.
