What do I think about Neil Gaiman’s “Click-Clack the RattleBag”? Well, honestly I enjoyed the story, but I am very disappointed by how the tale continued. I had much higher expectations, and wished for the spooky vibes that the accompanying photograph gave me.

The rising climax nearly redeemed the story; however, I craved a more taunting tale that would “raise my hairs and tingle my spine” as I ventured further into the story. I would have been far more interested in the spooky tale if there were more frightening scenes occuring. For instance, if unusual noises started when the boy and the boyfriend entered the little boy’s room or if there was a skeleton with blood everywhere, it may have added more interest to the story. However, I disagree with Reviewer #1’s “2 smoothies out of 5”. As previously stated, I enjoyed the passage, but I had a greater thirst for something more taunting that would give me nightmares in the dead of night.

Overall, I enjoyed “Click-Clack the RattleBag,” as well as the “show” that played in my imagination, inspired by Neil Gaiman’s words. Despite its positive attributes, however, I still don’t love it or hate it. Though valiant in his effort, Gaiman’s short story didn’t quench my thirst.

6 stars out of 10.
