Video games have been around for many years, and people buy them not because the cover art looks interesting, but because of reviews and the genre. An example is the game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where you can play against friends or family, and use different items to gain an advantage. Some people prefer games where you can build a theme park, like Planet Coaster. These types of games are very different, but each of them attracts a different audience. Party games are games where family or friends can get on a digital board game with interactive elements like rolling some dice, using power-ups, and of course, the ability to take points from competitors. A great example is Super Mario Party, which involves the iconic Mario cast of characters going against each other to get stars and coins. With the vast amount of game genres developers try make new games with different appeals. Many games try to be as immersive as possible, and with virtual reality becoming a hit style of gaming, more and more people are attracted into the formula of: See new game, play new game, rate new game, wait for next game. Games even have backstories for players to indulge into, and it is referred to as “lore” which makes up the entire game’s fictional universe. Different games have different age ratings, like E for everyone, everyone 10+, (ten years or older) teen, (13 and older) and adults only 18+. All these ratings can determine what games are safe to play, and which aren’t. Be sure to only play games that are within your age rating!
