Hiss! It's a snake! Did you know there are more than 3,700 species of snakes? Snakes are one of the most dangerous animals to exist, and they have been evolving for millions of years. The most dangerous snake in the world lives in Australia, and it is the western taipan. Snakes are important because they help maintain the food web by being both prey and predator. Make sure you keep your eyes open when hiking and on trails. Snakes do not have eyelids, so they don't blink. They will probably see you before you see them.
