The Interview of My Fourth Grade Teacher
Author Name:
Laila Deeb

Have you ever had that one teacher that you could always go to when you feel down? You always felt more secure and motivated to learn with her or him. The funny sounds they make with laughter circling the room just making you giggle without even knowing it. Well, I have had many of those teachers but the one who sticks out is Mrs. Parmentier! Because of this, I decided to interview her and ask some questions on what her perspective is and what she goes through. The first questioned ask was “Who do you look up too?” Although it took her a second, she listed, David Gogens which is an athlete, Philippa Gregory Which is an author, JLO (the singer), and her daughter Kalee! Next, I asked, “What inspires you to keep going when times are difficult?” She replied briefly and stated her teammates (Other 4th grade teachers) and of course, her kind students. Furthermore, I asked “When did you start this job and what was your college.” She said she went to USF and started teaching in 1999, which was 24 years ago! Where were you before you started your journey as a teacher and were you planning to become one? She said she worked in a Doctors office but planned to be a speech teacher before she started her job. Why did you choose to be a teacher, I asked? "Because of the children,” she said. The last question was, how do you feel about it now and she replied, “It is hard. It would be easy if I just taught but I have many other hard responsibilities I must deal with, too.”
